Slot Machine Myths And Impressions About Successful Strategies

By Bill Freeman

When it comes to playing slot machines many people think of it as a low risk game that comes with many benefits. To play can cost anywhere from a penny to five dollars per game. Along with the high potentiality for winning without the hard work of skill that is required in games like blackjack, there are also a lot of slot machine myths and misconceptions.

One common myth that people believe is that if the person after you receives a jackpot on the machine you were playing, that it could have been you if you continued playing. Slot combinations are generated by something known as a random generator ring. The generator is constantly cycling numbers even when there is not a person physically playing the slots.

Another belief is that a machine that has been somewhat dry and not resulting in a winning is due to jackpot. This is also false. There is no possible way to tell when exactly a machine will generate a jackpot because it is all computer generated.

Once a jackpot is hit people often see that slot as tainted and unable to win another jackpot. This is not 100% accurate. Because the winnings are based off of random occurrence and are constantly running number combinations, it is still possible to win a jackpot off a machine that just won a jackpot.

A strategy people often feel is superior to the other is to push the button versus pulling the lever and vice versa as a means for a win. Because each slot has a random number generator it does not make a difference if you push a button or pull a lever. If you feel better with either strategy stick with what makes you feel comfortable.

Trying to count symbols and calculate the probability of winning is also a false method for winning. There is an endless amount of possibilities making it impossible to tell when the winning combination will pop up making you the winner of a jackpot. Trying to count symbols will only drain your pockets instead of filling them with riches.

Despite the myths, casinos do not have the control of how and when a machine will hit the jackpot. Casinos are not allowed to tamper with the workings of the micro chip within the machine per the commissioner of casinos.
