US ISPs With Antipiracy Code

U.S. providers of Internet access will soon meet with a number of rules to combat various forms of hacking, according to recommendations released Thursday by the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) of USA.

A expert group of professionals run by the FCC, brought together over 50 experts in tech communications, additionally professionals and experts, to make a series of recommendations implemented by the FCC chairman, Julius Genachowski.

"The recommendations adopted today identify intelligent solutions, practices, voluntary, which concretely improve cyber security of computer networks," Genachowski said in a statement.

The FCC recommends a code of conduct against zombie computer networks or in other words Botnets, which are remotely controlled by cyber criminals. The code compromises all Internet Service Providers to inform there customers of the risks involved and what steps to take to prevent this from happening, even providing assistance in case of any cyber attack. No matter what ISP you may have , it is very important to have your antivirus up to date in order to avoid any holes for cybercriminals.

Even more, the work group recommends Internet Service Providers establish a way to make sure DNS establishes a framework in order to prevent unwanted internet traffic from routing in your network.

Several US ISPs including Time Warner and Comcast have joined the group and have begun implementing its recommendations.

Genachowski said ,"We are not content with publishing reports: companies that serve more than 80% of Internet users in the United States undertake to provide meaningful solutions to major cyber security issues.

Some other issues that were mentioned are botnets or zombie computers, which are today in day a very serious threat to our digital economy. For this reason top Internet Service Providers such as Time Warner and Comcast will team up to fight against it.

A set of robots or bots that run autonomously. Every month over four million computers are turned into botnets according to a survey done by our researchers.
