Learning PS3 and HDMI Troubles

By Adell Worell

In order to use a PlayStation 3, it requires you to have a single cable called HDMI to transmit video and audio to a high-definition television. Although this single cable is so easy and convenient to use, sometimes it can have so many problems. Basically, problems in HDMI PS3 require you to restart your PS3 and look for any loose cables. Perhaps you can also try unplugging all cables so that you can plug them all over again. You can actually fix at your very own home most PS3 HDMI troubles.

The Most Frequent HDMI PS3 Problems and their Solutions Revealed:

1). Whenever HDMI cable is bent and is not being plugged in properly, there will be a problem.

The cable bends out easily from the PS3 socket since it is very heavy and the socket does not have any locking device to fix in the HDMI cable. When this happens, there will be usual interference with the video signal as well as physical damage. What is now the solution? Simply get a right angle HDMI adapter that will fit into the PS3 and present a vertical socket for the HDMI cable to plug into. You can then eliminate any strain on the HDMI cable.

2). No Transmission of Audio and Video by the HDMI

Perhaps there is something wrong with your PS3's settings. Check it out and make sure that the HDMI is selected and this is the automatic setting so that signals are sent through the HDMI cable.

3). There is Video Freezing and/or Blacking Out

You have to switch off both HDTV and PS3. After switching off, you can now turn back on the HDTV and set the input from the PS3 HDMI cable. You have to press the power button approximately for 5 to 6 seconds then when you hear the second beep you have to release it. This solution is actually configuring PS3 to HDTV's resolution.

4). The Video output was lost after a few seconds

Basically, cheap HDMI cables do not allow a connection to be setup between the PS3 and TV, thus as a result there is no video signal or you keep on losing the video output after a few seconds. Basically, what you need is to have HDMI cable with good quality, thus you need to purchase it from a reputable brand name.

5). The video output is being received from the composite or component cables and not from the HDMI output

What you need to do first is to have a PS3's firmware and TV's firmware that are updated. You have to buy a new, high quality HDMI cable when it is not updated. There may be inability of your PS3 and TV to secure HDMI handshake if and when the problem still exists. What you can do here is to buy an HDMI switch which acts as a hub for HDMI connections OR you can buy a PS3 Component AV Cable. It is also important that your TV accepts HD over the component connection.
