How To Win At Free Cell Solitaire

By Eric Stafford

The game of FreeCell solitaire is a fun and challenging card game. Unlike other versions of the card game, success in FreeCell solitaire is largely dependent upon skill, not chance. By using proper strategy and making the correct plays just about and deal can be beaten. There are very few FreeCell solitaire deals that are impossible to solve. This makes the game more challenging and enjoyable to play.

Your chances of winning a particular game depends largely on the strategy you choose to employ. By using the strategies outlined in this article you will dramatically increase your winning percentage.

The most obvious moves are not necessarily the ones to make. You must take time to view the tableau prior to making a move. You must try to see the board a few moves in advance.

Make it a priority to free up all the Aces, especially if they are deeply buried behind the higher cards. Move them to the home cells as early as possible.

Try to keep as many free cells empty as possible. Be cautious! Once all free cells are filled, you have almost no space to maneuver. And your ability to maneuver is the key to this game. Make sure you have no alternative before placing any cards in the free cells.

As with free cells, free tableau piles are extremely important to your success in the game. As an empty tableau can be employed to house a string instead of a single card, it makes the importance of availing them great. Further, it doubles the length of a string that is able to be moved to one tableau from the other.

Whenever you can, place a large string that starts with a king in a vacant tableau space.

Keep the home cells open as long as you can. You will find you often require these cards later in the game to move other suits of low cards.

Keep practicing to build your skills. While you will come across deals that you can beat in no time, you will more often find deals that require you to use skill to plan moves and win the game. The more you practice, the further your skills will develop, the more you will win and the more fun you will have.
