A Must Buy - Super Antivirus Software Review

By Samuel Taylor

Norton uses a website-based parental control option now. Despite being called a different name and being able to set profiles for family members, it is not reliable and not well thought-out. This will be my second year having Norton. I can say I'm as pleased as I was with Norton 2010 on this. Lastly, I ran a test twice using the full system scan. The first scan took 2 hours and 23 minutes (471,753 total items scanned) with 9 risks detected and resolved!

I wouldn't bother with Windows own. I don't know if it's still true, but Diskeeper used to be the company that provided Microsoft with its basic defragger tool - basically a crippled version of the real thing, what marketing people call "aspirational" (it looks great on paper, but it doesn't yet or never will work). I still use it though and have had good results using both. Other than that, it does what I bought it to do, Keep my comp's running.

I had some problems installing and it took me more than one try! Since I already had Norton I had to use the Norton removal tool.

I have three issues with this product, which revolve around the yearly end of subscription. I always buy the next version, since that is significantly cheaper than renewing the subscription. Norton Internet Security - 1 User/3 Pc has worked so fine that, at the moment of the installation, even though I had McAfee installed in my system, NORTON detected 4 Trojan viruses that were hidden in my computer and which McAfee had not found. I am very pleased with all the features this program has, including the international monitoring of threats, the automatic scans, live updates and more.

These are very vanilla systems with almost nothing installed on them. The web sites that have crashed are not consistent and by no means dangerous sites. The purpose of this review is to warn everyone not to leave your computer on when you leave it if you have activated the Norton LOGIN feature. This Norton product works as advertised. I bought it from Amazon for half what Norton wants and considerably less than even Walmart. It's low maintenance, does what it's supposed to do, no problems. Since I have relied on Norton products for over 20 years, I have kept up a yearly subscription with their Anti-Virus programming. This particular version I have used for several years with no problems or invasions into my system.

My laptop became so infected that it crashed. I had to have my computer guy fix it, which took some doing he said.

I then proceeded to reboot the computer, and run another full system scan (out of curiosity). The second scan took 5 hours and 4 minutes (580,631 total items scanned) with 43 risks detected and resolved!

It should be pain-free and smooth. Not cumbersome, slow, and idiotic.
